Irene Criss was born June 21, 1926, in Leland, Mississippi,
as the only child conceived between her parents Willie Criss and Florence
Spencer Criss.
Irene accepted Christ and was baptized in 1941 in a river
called the Bogue in Mississippi.
In 1945 Irene married Haywood Curtis during which she gave
birth to two children by the names of Janis and Shirley Ann. Unfortunately
Shirley Ann preceded her in death.
Irene worked for South West Convalescent Home as a nurse for
over 19 years. She enjoyed watching TV and reading. She was known to be feisty
most days, but kind and friendly with the best sense of humor. She would always
say "If you feeling froggy -- jump" or "Two is company and three is a crowd."
Irene leaves behind a daughter Janis Thomas, 6 grandchildren:
Ernest Curtis, Tracy Howard, Tarjsha Campbell, Melanie Thomas, Yolanda Thomas,
and Nakaya Lee; 11 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Her
departure will be greatly missed but her memories will always play in rhythm
with our hearts.
The family of Irene Criss would like to thank you for the many acts of loving-kindness shown to us during our bereavement. Your thoughtfulness is deeply appreciated and will always be remembered.
