In Loving Memory of Detwonia L. Harris

September 17, 1963 - July 25, 2019

Detwonia Lamon Harris, was born in St. Louis, Missouri on September 17, 1963, to George A. Harris and Lola Jackson, and was the oldest of five children. Detwonia became affectionately known as ‚Detwon‚ or ‚Twon.‚ Detwonia was raised in Oakland, California, and was educated in the Oakland Public School System.

He was a fun-loving individual who loved to laugh and make new friends. He loved to write, had a love for fashion, and an inviting smile. He resided in Sherman Oaks, California, where he was a proud, active, and extremely supportive Treatment Center Counselor. In this role, he developed a great, long-lasting relation-ship with clients and staff. Although he lived long distance, he always made sure to stay in touch with his family. Detwonia loved his family and friends deeply and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

In an effort to be a supporting friend, his life was unexpectedly cut short on July 25, 2019.

Detwonia was preceded in death by his father George A. Harris and brother Decedric Harris.

He is survived by his mother, Lola Jackson, five children: Yolanda Davis, Jeremiah Harris, Isaiah Harris, Nathanael Harris, and step-son Apondo White; two sisters: Tange Harris, and Tara Jackson; one brother George Harris, one grandchild Mikyiah Davis. Additionally, he leaves a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Good memories of Detwonia will always remain in our hearts. His tragic death pierced the hearts of many, but it also brought out a wealth of love from many communities.
