In Loving Memory of James Robert Clark

December 15, 1937 - June 22, 2019

James Robert "Shorty" Clark was born December 15, 1937, at California hospital in Los Angeles, CA to Joseph Clark and Estella McGhee. The first of nine, James was an ambitious child and would later go on to be an ambitious adult. He received his formal education in the Los Angeles Unified School district attending Ninety-Sixth street elementary and David

Star Jordan high school back when the school was both a middle and high school.

Later in life, James met and married Bernestine Clark, and to this union, seven children were born: Dewayne, James Jr., Jeffrey, Donna Faye, Rhonda, Cheryl Lynn, and Dennis.

James spent many years working and providing for his family. He held many jobs with his most notable being his job at Coast Produce Market where he worked as a warehouseman, receiver, and loader from June 13, 1977, to his retirement on February 20, 2001. James always stressed to his kids and grandkids the importance of keeping a "good job," and even after his retirement, he went back into the workforce working as a stock person at two liquor stores.

James was known for being a "Sharp dresser" having a big heart and always being willing to go above and beyond to help his friends and family whether it was giving you a few dollars, giving you a ride, offering you a place to lay your head until you get on your feet or just some encouraging words, he was always there.

James was preceded in death by his wife Bernestine Clark, two sons: Dwayne Bland, and James Clark Jr., daughter Rhonda Clark, two sisters: Mattie and Sharon Clark; brother Jethro Clark, and four grandchildren: Damion and Kayla Dangerfield, Bonnie and Denysha-Raye Clark.

James leaves to cherish all 29,738 days of his precious memories, two sons Jeffrey and Dennis Clark, five daughters: Donna, Cheryl, Roshonda, and Stella Clark and Chonseya Morris; 42 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters: Shirley Livingston, and Rhoda Clark; 3 brothers: Joe Clark, Henry Clark, and Andrew Clark; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends. We all loved James, but, God loved him best.
