In Loving Memory of Joseph H. Tolbert, Jr.

December 16, 1953 - September 28, 2018

Joseph Henry "Joe" Tolbert, Jr. was born December 16, 1953, in Los Angeles, California to Joseph Henry Tolbert, Sr. and Peggy Ann McIntosh. He was the third of six siblings.

Joe accepted Christ at an early age at Friendly Friendship Baptist Church. Later in life, he returned to his Christian roots and begin reading and studying the Bible.

He graduated from Locke High School. After graduating from high school he worked at a car dealership, and in the Steel Industry. After the steel company relocated, he became self-employed in construction.

Joe married Sharon Williams. He was the father of four children.  He loved cars and spent a lot of time detailing his cars. He also loved fishing and bicycling. Joe was handy and always available to assist his relatives, neighbors, and friends with home repairs.

On September 29, 2018, after a short illness, Joe was summoned to eternity. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and two brothers.

Joe will be fondly remembered by his children: Marie Kent (James), Joseph III (Denise), Jason and Javonna; three grandchildren, sisters: JoAnn King (Steve), Brenda Ball (Jasper); brother, Dereck Tolbert, an aunt, Millie Wells, an uncle, James McIntosh, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. When Joe would act someway contrary, the family would say "Joe is Joe" now we will say "Joe was Joe."
